One-Minute Self-Care

You know the scenario: the kids are fighting, your boss just pinged you 17 times in a row, you haven’t even had lunch…ooof.

Here are 5 super simple things you can do for self-care in under a minute:

  1. Put your hands flat on your chest, stacked over your heart. Close your eyes, breathe slowly, and count back from 20.
  2. Grab a cold drink…water, iced coffee, LeCroix…whatever you like. Pour it into a pretty cup. Take slow, thoughtful sips.
  3. Do 10 reps, 4 sets of wall push-ups. (Stand straight up, arms’ length from the wall. Your legs should be hip distance apart. Lean into the wall, palms flat, and inhale. Let your nose touch the wall and briefly hold. Exhale and push off. That is one rep.)
  4. Hug it out for 15 seconds. Hug your pup, hug a kid, or hug yourself. It literally releases oxytocin, which will help you feel happier and calmer.
  5. Step outside, look at the sky, and breathe in fresh air for 60 seconds.

Yep, these are simple. That’s the point. They are also scientifically proven to help reduce stress. So, the next time you feel overwhelmed, take ONE MINUTE to center yourself. You deserve it.
