Our Special Pandemic Retreats

Big shaggy dog with kitten on step

Before we moved to Charleston, our refuge was the woods. Where we lived, there were tons of hiking trails and parks to explore, and we rarely saw another human.

Life in Charleston is very different. We don’t have mountain trails, and hiking in 100-degree humid weather isn’t always a top priority. But we do live in an amazing city where the beautiful ocean is right down the road. Before the pandemic, the beach was a special escape and a quiet place to recharge. Now, the beaches are too overcrowded to feel safe. So, we’ve had to create our own retreats at home focused on positivity, health, and the safety of our families.

Leah’s pandemic retreat? her porch. She snuggles with her pups behind her historic Live Oak, enjoys the breeze from the marsh, and works on her laptop. This is her happy place. What’s yours?
